ISRINGHAUSEN and OECHSLER Unveil the World’s First Sustainable 3D-Printed Truck Seat
Designed by ISRINGHAUSEN × Manufactured at OECHSLER’s Additive Manufacturing Facility
German seat specialist ISRINGHAUSEN and technology company OECHSLER have jointly launched a groundbreaking truck seat – ISRI Horizon TOMORROW – a product that unites sustainability, technological innovation, and design aesthetics. Developed through additive manufacturing, every component of this revolutionary seat is engineered to reduce environmental impact while enhancing both functionality and visual appeal.
Green Materials Shaping the Future
At the heart of ISRI Horizon TOMORROW lies a commitment to sustainable innovation:
Structural components use low-carbon steel, maintaining strength while significantly cutting carbon emissions.
Polymer side panels and control units are produced from recycled and bio-based plastics, reflecting a “regenerative aesthetic” aligned with the principles of a circular economy.
Seat cover fabrics are made from mono-materials, simplifying end-of-life recycling.
OECHSLER applies Forward AM’s (now Stratasys) recyclable thermoplastic polyurethane TPU01, manufactured via HP Multi Jet Fusion technology and enhanced with AMT post-processing coatings. This enables zonal density adjustment in the seat cushion while ensuring 100% mechanical recyclability.
Redefining Driving Comfort
The cushioning layer combines recycled polyester and polyamide foams, striking a balance between comfort and sustainability. A distinctive textile bellows component, made from lightweight mono-material, achieves nearly 50% weight reduction compared to conventional PVC while offering full customization of colors and patterns—providing OEMs with an eco-conscious interior solution.
Industrial Breakthrough: 51% Emission Reduction
Lifecycle analysis reveals that the ISRI Horizon TOMORROW seat achieves a 51% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to traditional alternatives. This milestone not only demonstrates the synergy between advanced materials and additive manufacturing but also represents a paradigm shift in commercial vehicle interior design.
Through high-performance materials and precise post-processing, OECHSLER showcases the critical role of collaborative innovation in driving sustainable mobility.
